Businesses are now 30 times more likely to be victims of cyber crime than conventional burglary or theft. How can you protect yourself ?

There are some simple steps you can take, whether or not you decide to but insurance cover.

Firstly always check and double check the payee for every bank transfer / invoice that is emailed to to make sure the payee bank details are correct and have not been altered.

Call the number you have on file for the company - don't use the number on the invoice

Ensure that the accounts dept never accept an email instruction from you to make a payment without checking that it is really you by phone. Faked email addresses look very authentic until you look closer.
